Join a nature walk, search for a crayfish, learn the basics of outdoor photography and meet the resident wildlife on Saturday at Penn State’s Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center’s Open House.
The Open House runs from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 5. All activities and parking are free.
Visitors can stop by any time to meet the resident wildlife in the Litzinger Herpetarium, explore new exhibits in the Silvi Classroom and help create enrichment items for resident birds of prey in the Klingsberg Aviary.
There will also be scheduled activities, including music and story time, an Autumn Adventuring walk, a Crayfish Quest, a "Monarchs and More" craft project, and a "Project Feeder Watch" information session. A “Short Walk for Kids” suitable for toddlers is scheduled at 10:45 a.m. and again at 11:30 a.m.
Registration is required for the Nature and Gratitude Walk, Nature Journaling and Nature Photography sessions because of space restrictions.
