UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In celebration of Women’s History Month, Penn State University Libraries will host a virtual Wikipedia editathon focusing on Native American women activists and environmentalists. The editathon will run from noon to 2 p.m. March 19 on Zoom. Participants can get the Zoom link by registering for the event.

Wikipedia editathons are organized events held with the intention of increasing representation on Wikipedia of underrepresented identified groups and providing basic training to new editors. Participants will learn how to use University Libraries books and databases, as well as online open-access resources to improve or create articles.

First-time Wikipedia editors are welcome to join the virtual event regardless of technology knowledge or experience, and experienced editors will be on hand at the Penn State Wikipedia Editathon Dashboard to answer questions and suggest articles to edit and references to use. No preparation is necessary, but interested participants can visit Wikipedia's Getting Started page for more information about setting up an account and editing Wikipedia.

For questions about the event or accommodations, contact Ana Enriquez, copyright officer and head, Office of Scholarly Communications and Copyright, at aee32@psu.edu, or Christina Riehman-Murphy, open and affordable educational resources librarian, at cer20@psu.edu.
