Hershey Medical Center ranked among nation's best hospitals for orthopedic care

HERSHEY, Pa. — U.S. News & World Report has listed Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical center among the best hospitals in the nation for 2020-21 in orthopedic care. The medical center ranks No. 42 in U.S. News' recently released list of "Best Hospitals 2020-21."

Hershey Medical Center also is recognized as “high performing” in six additional specialties: gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology and lung surgery and urology.

Overall, U.S. News ranked the Hershey Medical Center the best hospital in the Harrisburg metro region, and the No. 4 hospital in Pennsylvania.

Hershey Medical Center provides patients across south-central Pennsylvania and beyond with exceptional care for bone, joint and spine disorders. Specialists in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation provide high-level care for all aspects of orthopedic care, including joint reconstruction, musculoskeletal trauma, sports medicine, spinal disorders, hand surgery, soft tissue injuries and conditions, and metabolic bone disease, such as osteoporosis.

The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 31st year, aims to help guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. According to U.S. News, the methodology for determining rankings includes measures such as patient survival, the number of times a given procedure is performed, quality of nursing care and patient safety.

U.S. News also recognized Penn State Children’s Hospital among the Best Children’s Hospitals in cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, neonatology, nephrology and pulmonology in the 2020-21 rankings.
