UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A free cooking demonstration from a PBS celebrity chef and opportunities to help support WPSU public media will take place virtually Saturday, Feb. 5.
The 30th Annual WPSU Connoisseur's Event and Auction will begin at 6 p.m. and feature chef Julie Taboulie, who is the host of the PBS show “Julie Taboulie’s Lebanese Kitchen.” During the cooking demonstration, Taboulie will prepare three of her signature dishes through the WPSU streaming platform.
In addition to the cooking demonstration, there are several ways to support WPSU and the local community:
- Purchase a takeout Lebanese dinner through a partnership between WPSU and State College’s Middle Feast. Orders must be submitted by noon on Saturday, Jan. 29, and can be picked up on Feb. 5.
- Bid on more than 100 items, including hotel packages, culinary experiences, outdoor experiences, art and gift cards, during the online auction period from Jan. 28 through Feb. 5.
- Buy “Julie Taboulie’s Lebanese Kitchen” cookbook, which will include an inscription from the chef.
The proceeds from the auction items and a portion of the funds raised from the takeout dinners and cookbook sales help support the programming and operations of WPSU-TV.
WPSU-TV serves 24 counties in central Pennsylvania and reaches 515,000 households, and WPSU-FM is accessible to more than 450,000 listeners in 13 counties. The public media station also includes WPSU Digital Studios, which offers original web series that explore science, arts and culture. WPSU is a Penn State Outreach service.
Visit the Connoisseur’s Event and Auction website for more information. The cooking demonstration is free, but registration is appreciated.
