UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Health has once again received national acclaim for its commitment to supporting veterans and their families through comprehensive hiring and employment practices.
Military Times has named Penn State Health to its "Best for Vets: 2024 Employers" list, an annual recognition of organizations that excel in creating supportive programs and policies for veterans transitioning to civilian careers. The ranking is based on the results of a detailed, voluntary survey conducted by the health system’s Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The survey evaluates policies, benefits and initiatives that make Penn State Health an attractive and inclusive workplace for military veterans and their families.
This accolade marks the third time Penn State Health has been recognized on the "Best for Vets" list, following previous honors in 2021 and 2022. In the 2024 rankings, Penn State Health placed ninth among all organizations in Pennsylvania that participated.
“Penn State Health is proud to have earned this recognition and is appreciative of the service of our military and veteran team members,” said Wesley Payne McClendon, vice president, chief learning organization development officer and chief diversity officer. “Our workplace culture is driven by our core values of respect, integrity, teamwork and excellence. Our military and veteran team members help us do our best to serve and support each other and our patients.”
