Patients at Penn State Children’s Hospital had a chance to customize their own donuts with sprinkles and icing at a recent event. Team members from Duck Donuts hosted a donut topping event on Nov. 30 for children and their families. Russ DiGilio, founder and CEO of Duck Donuts Franchising Company, and his team also delivered a new shipment of Chemo Ducks -- plush toys used for medical play therapy with pediatric cancer patients.

Gabe’s Chemo Duck Program is a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive educational services to children and families living with cancer. It includes a Chemo Duck, a bilingual companion overview book, a printable activity book, as well as an educational DVD featuring a cartoon about the program. Duck Donuts in the greater Harrisburg area raised more than $4,900 in September to fund the latest donation of Chemo Ducks.
