Dress for Success South Central PA, a program of Suits to Careers Inc., recently awarded its Partner in Success Award to Kathy Law, director of nursing periop services at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Law was presented with the award on April 12 at the Lebanon Cosmopolitan Affair in recognition of her efforts in spearheading and facilitating a five-year ongoing partnership between Dress for Success South Central PA and Penn State Hershey.
“The Partner in Success award is given to individuals, corporations, groups or small businesses that have had a significant impact on our ability to deliver our mission and meet the needs of the community,” said Ruth Koup, founder, president and CEO of Suits to Careers Inc. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to supporting women and men in transition to move into the workforce, locate the right employment and achieve self-sufficiency.
Law’s contributions include facilitating the Medical Center as the host sponsor for the Power Walk for Dress for Success and Suits to Careers 5-K Run event, assisting with promoting the event and executing the event as well as annual support with a team of volunteers. Law’s involvement has helped raise nearly $40,000 through the event.
The Power Walk for Dress for Success and Suits to Careers 5-K Run welcomes community members of all ages at 30 Hope Drive in Hershey on May 9. Sign-in starts at 8:30 a.m., and the walk and run start at 10 a.m. All participants are encouraged to register at www.dfspowerwalk.org/southcentralpa.
The event will include music, face painting, raffles, yoga, Zumba, a health fair and more. Children, family and leashed dogs are encouraged to participate, and individuals can select to register together as a team. Prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers and to individuals participating in the 5-K run portion of the event. Time results provided by Pretzel City Sports will be available to all runners.
