June Healthy Aging Lecture to focus on staying sharp on the road

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Center for Healthy Aging will host “The Road Ahead: Staying Sharp and Mobile” as part of its Healthy Aging Community Lecture Series at 6 p.m. June 9 at Dreibelbis Auditorium, Mount Nittany Medical Center, 1800 E. Park Ave. in State College.

Lesley A. Ross, assistant professor of human development and family studies and director of the Study of Healthy Aging & Applied Research Programs (SHAARP) laboratory, will discuss how aging adults can maintain their independence and mobility. The session will focus on cognitive and exercise intervention programs. Attendees will also learn what makes older adults safe drivers as they age, and potential programs that might help them stay safe on the road longer.

A light snack will be provided. There is no cost to attend and reservations are not required.

The lecture series is a community partnership developed and sponsored by the Penn State Center for Healthy Aging, The Village at Penn State, Mount Nittany Medical Center, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Penn State, Foxdale Village, Juniper Village at Brookline and Home Instead Senior Care.
