UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Sara Jimenez Rincon, daughter of Martha Rincon and Fernando Jimenez of North Wales, Pennsylvania, will serve as college marshal for the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State’s spring commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 7.
Jimenez Rincon will graduate with bachelor’s degrees in both biobehavioral health and nutritional sciences. She served as a leader in the Schreyer Honors College Student Council, most recently as vice president during the 2022-23 academic year.
As a Schreyer Honors Scholar, Jimenez Rincon conducted a thesis project, “Food Insecurity, Anxiety, and Physical Activity Among College Students, Before and During the COVID-19 Pandemic.” She was also an advocacy leader for Days for Girls, an organization dedicated to advancing menstrual equity, health, and dignity for all who menstruate.
Jimenez Rincon was a research assistant in The Na Lab, which investigates community and public health nutrition research in the U.S. and around the world, and was lead author on an article published in Nutrition Journal. She was also the student engagement and outreach assistant for Penn State University Library Learning Services.
Jimenez Rincon received College of Health and Human Development Summer Research Grants in 2021 and 2022 and an Erickson Discovery Grant from Penn State in 2022. She received the Penn State Presidential Academic Excellence Award three times and was also awarded the Victoria N. Price Memorial Scholarship.
In addition to her degrees in biobehavioral health and nutritional sciences, Jimenez Rincon is enrolled in the Penn State College of Medicine’s Integrated Undergraduate-Graduate Accelerated Master of Public Health program where she will work toward a master’s degree in public health with a focus on community and behavioral health.
