Lectures
Cybersecurity Awareness Training – 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Nov. 20, Olmsted W107 Gallery Lounge. From Wi-Fi to "Wi-Fail": Think before you click! Learn how to protect yourself from cyberthreats. Open to all Penn State Harrisburg students, staff and faculty. The presentation is being given by cybersecurity major students. RSVP on Engage.
Transportation Research Board Report Symposium: Where are those long trains going? – 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Nov. 20, Olmsted W338.
Peter Swan, associate professor emeritus of supply chain management, will discuss the Transportation Research Board's recent report on the impacts of long freight trains. Swan, who served on the committee that compiled the study, will discuss the report’s recommendations in the three areas of safety, grade crossing blockages, and delays to Amtrak passengers. He will be able to answer any questions pertaining to the study or to railroads in general. Register here.

School of Humanities Concert: “The Elements of Music: songs About the Building Blocks of Nature” – 7-9 p.m., Nov. 20 and Nov. 21, Kulkarni Theatre. Free, general admission, no ticket required. The Penn State Harrisburg Campus Choir, Campus Band, and Jazz Ensemble will explore how music interprets nature’s elements; Earth, Wind, Fire, and Air. Featuring songs by: Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Frank Ticheli, Boney M., Freddie Hubbard, Earth, Wind and Fire, and more.

“Always Aim High! An Exhibition Celebrating Shirley Chisholm” – Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library. An exhibition celebrating Shirley Chisholm and featuring rare materials from the Alice Marshall Women’s History Collection. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Chisholm was the first Black woman to be elected to the U.S. Congress in 1968 and the first Black woman to run for U.S. president in 1972. The exhibition was curated by Payton Becker, a doctoral student in American studies and graduate archives assistant at Hanes Library.
“Faces: Portraits of Students at Penn State Harrisburg” – Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library. Presented by the School of Humanities in collaboration with the Madlyn L. Hanes Library.
“Driving, Designing, and Defying: Women Paving the Way in Automotive History” – Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library.
“Forty-Five Years After the Meltdown: Remembering the Accident at TMI in 2024” – Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library.
