Penn State Harrisburg awards ceremony recognizes faculty and staff

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Penn State Harrisburg recently recognized outstanding employee contributions at the 2022 Faculty and Staff Recognition Program. Nominated by the college community and selected by various award committees, several faculty and staff members received awards.

Awardees included:

Staff Service Award

Sue Copella, director of the Pennsylvania State Data Center; and Craig Merkey, associate director of Recreation & Aquatics

Faculty Service Award

John Haddad, professor of American studies, School of Humanities

Excellence in Research and Scholarly Activity Award

Issam Abu-Mahfouz, associate professor of mechanical engineering, School of Science, Engineering, and Technology

Excellence in Teaching Award

Maria Enriquez, assistant teaching professor of theater, School of Humanities; and Hannah Spector, associate professor of education, School of Behavioral Sciences and Education

Thomas Eberlein Excellence in Teaching Award

Ola Rashwan, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, School of Science, Engineering, and Technology

Faculty Diversity Award

Ana Patricia Aguilera Hermida, assistant teaching professor of human development and family studies, School of Behavioral Sciences and Education

25-Year Awards

The ceremony also recognized faculty and staff who have completed 25 years of service to the University. They included: Holly Angelique, assistant dean for academic affairs; Dave Schwenk, IT support specialist; and Premal Vora, associate professor of finance

Faculty and Staff Retirees

Faculty and staff retirees who were also recognized included: Ricky L. Bragunier, Laurie Dobrosky, Jill D. Edwards, Margaret R. Jaster, Jane S. Kochanov, Steven Michael Royer and Greg Schiavoni
