MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant defensive line coach and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native Lori Locust will speak at Penn State Harrisburg from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday, March 18, in the Mukund S. Kulkarni Theatre in the Student Enrichment Center. The event is in recognition of the 50th anniversary of Title IX, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs receiving federal financial assistance and helped increase access to women's sports at the collegiate level.
Moderated by ABC 27 sports anchor Allie Berube, Locust will share how Title IX shaped her athletic opportunities. The event is free and open to the public. Register here.
Locust entered her third season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. With the team's victory in Super Bowl LV, she, along with Maral Javadifar, became the first women on an NFL coaching staff to win a Super Bowl.
Locust joined the Buccaneers after working as the assistant defensive line coach for the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football, defensive line coaching intern for the Baltimore Ravens and co-special teams coordinator for the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks of the National Arena League.
Locust graduated from Susquehanna Township High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She began her coaching career following four years as a player in women’s semi-professional football.
