MALVERN, Pa. — Penn State Great Valley has announced the launch of its new master of artificial intelligence (AI) program, set to commence this fall. This program is designed to equip students with the cutting-edge skills and knowledge needed to excel in the rapidly evolving field of AI.
The master of artificial intelligence at Penn State Great Valley offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers key areas such as machine learning, deep learning, computer vision and natural language processing. The program is crafted to cater to both recent graduates and working professionals, offering flexible scheduling options including evening and online classes offered in a hybrid delivery model.
"Artificial intelligence is transforming industries and creating new opportunities across the globe," said Chancellor and Dean Colin Neill. "Our new master's program is aimed at preparing students to lead and innovate in this dynamic field. By leveraging the expertise of our distinguished faculty and state-of-the-art facilities, we are committed to providing a top-tier educational experience as we stay at the forefront of technological innovation."
The program's faculty comprises renowned researchers and industry experts who bring a wealth of experience and insight into the classroom. Students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on projects and collaborate with industry partners through the Penn State Nittany AI Alliance — and access the extensive resources of Penn State’s global network.
"Our approach is deeply interdisciplinary, reflecting the diverse applications of AI in sectors such as healthcare, finance, manufacturing and beyond," said Raghu Sangwan, director of engineering programs and the Insights Lab at Great Valley. "We aim to foster a learning environment that encourages innovation, critical thinking, and ethical considerations in AI development and deployment."
The program will be led by Youakim Badr, professor of data analytics and artificial Iintelligence at Great Valley and an expert in the field of analytics and AI.
“AI has a potential to impact just about every aspect of our lives,” Badr said. “With this program, our goal is to educate a new generation of AI engineers ready to tackle opportunities and challenges as they emerge in this rapidly advancing field.”
Applications for the master of artificial intelligence program are now open. Admission requirements include a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or mathematics. Students from other disciplines may be considered based on prior course work, including the entrance requirements for mathematics and programming, and optionally, standardized test scores but the GRE is not required.
