UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Global is announcing the latest edition of the Emergency Preparedness Workshops (EPWs), a program created for leaders embarking on international journeys. This workshops, designed for faculty, staff and student leaders engaged in University-affiliated travel, are available to hone crucial skills for handling critical incidents abroad. During the workshops, participants will engage in immersive scenarios that address real-life incidents that leaders may encounter during travel. The workshops will take place on Feb. 27.
Please note that participants must have completed the Predeparture Orientation for Leaders (POL) training before registering for an Emergency Preparedness Workshop. POL training is required by Penn State TR01 for leaders of international experiences, who must undergo the training once every two years. EPWs builds on this training.
This in-person workshop spans one hour and is restricted to a maximum of 15 participants per session. Each session focuses on a single scenario, such as natural disaster response, injuries, mental health emergencies, accidental death, and more. The sessions are not instructional guides but rather interactive discussions exploring potential actions during critical incidents. The EPW scenarios are drawn from real-life experiences, either in part or in whole, encountered by Penn State travelers. To learn more details about the workshops and to register, please complete the Emergency Preparedness Workshop registration form.
