Former inmate to share journey of rehabilitation during talk at Penn State Fayette

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — Eric Wicklund, co-author of "Through a Convict’s Eyes: An Overlooked View of the Criminal Justice System," will visit Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus at 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 29 to discuss his insights on criminal rehabilitation. He will be joined by his co-author, Lavarr McBride, who has worked in the criminal justice field for 39 years and serves as a professor of criminal justice at Penn State Fayette. The event, open to faculty, staff, students and community members, will take place inside the campus library.

Wicklund has spoken to more than 300 classes at institutions such as Penn State, American University and Weber State. He and McBride have also presented at national conferences and workshops, focusing on themes of accountability, perseverance, and personal growth. Wicklund, who spent more than 18 years in prison, has not committed another crime since his release in 2000. He has overcome substance abuse issues and now shares his journey as a motivational speaker with 24 years of experience.
