Registration now open for 2023-24 assessment workshop series

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Registration is now open for the 2023-24 assessment workshop series presented by the Office of Planning, Assessment, and Institutional Research (OPAIR). This workshop series features a variety of assessment topics to support program learning assessment leaders and other faculty across the University. It will cover the full cycle of Penn State’s program-assessment process requirements including assessment best practices, assessment in general education courses, and using Nuventive to submit reports.

Workshops are presented via Zoom and free and open to all members of the Penn State community. Participants can join one or all workshops in the series.

Quick Start Guide to Program Assessment

  • Sept. 13, noon–1 p.m.

Get started with program assessment at Penn State by learning the jargon and the basic requirements for reporting.

Incorporating Penn State’s General Education Learning Outcomes Rubrics into your Course Assessment

  • Oct. 10, 8:30–9:30 a.m.
  • Jan. 18, 3–4 p.m.

Teaching a general education course? Learn how to use the rubrics developed by Faculty Senate to ensure that your students are meeting the University’s general education learning objectives.

Crafting High-Quality Program Learning Objectives

  • Jan. 30, noon–1 p.m.

Writing learning objectives is easy. Writing quality objectives is hard. Whether you’re new or experienced, come discover the secret to crafting high-quality objectives.

Closing the Loop in Program Assessment

  • April 11, noon–1 p.m.

So, you have a virtual mountain of assessment findings. Now what? We’ll show you how to put those findings to good use by “closing the loop.”

Nuventive Training for New Assessment Leaders

  • March 20, noon–1:30 p.m.
  • May 9, 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m.

Based on feedback, get started with the ins-and-outs of Nuventive, the University’s assessment reporting software.

Nuventive Training for Academic Administrators and Disciplinary Community members

  • May 7, noon–1 p.m.

This training is specifically for those that engage with the assessment of multiple programs across colleges.

What’s New in Nuventive: An Overview of Key Changes in the New User Interface 

Already experienced with Nuventive? Then you know it gets small tweaks every year and this year there will be a whole new look. We’ll provide a quick list of updates so you’re ready to submit your findings in June.
