Brian D. Cox is a marketing communications specialist in the Penn State College of Education, joining the staff in July 2022. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in communication media from Lock Haven University’s College of Liberal Arts and Education in 2007.
In his current role, Cox writes and coordinates news and feature stories about people and research, promotional brochures, and content for publication on Penn State News and other media, including social media. He is the primary page layout person for the Alumni Magazine and other print publications, manages the college’s digital signage, photographs events, creates graphics for social media, and reviews submitted content for the college’s website and other outlets.
Before coming to Penn State, Cox spent nearly 15 years at The Sentinel, a daily newspaper in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, serving as managing editor of the paper for the final five-plus years of his time there. Before that, he served as assistant managing editor, night editor, page designer and sports reporter. His first professional work was as a sports reporter for The Express newspaper in Lock Haven.
In his spare time, Cox volunteers with his children’s sports teams and clubs and serves as a youth baseball umpire.
