Sarah Asson, a doctoral candidate in educational leadership, and Erica Frankenberg, professor of educational leadership and demography, are co-authors on an article, “Historical Patterns and Trends in Racial/Ethnic Disproportionality in School Discipline in the United States,” in Socius: Sociological Research for a Dynamic World.

Marcela Borge, associate professor of learning, design, and technology, is lead author of a new article, “Using generative ai as a simulation to support higher-order thinking,” in the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning.

Mildred Boveda, associate professor of special education, is co-author of a new paper, “Beyond the Demographics of the Special Education Workforce: Developing Intersectional Competence to Sustain Teachers of Color,” published in the Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership.

Beverly Lindsay, professor emerita of education, presented her paper, "Autobiographical and Biographical Reflections and Policies Regarding Tenure and Promotion in Domestic and International Universities," at the 2024 annual conference of the Association of Black Sociologists, convened in Montreal.

Ricardo Martinez, assistant professor of mathematics education, has been appointed as a Fulbright Specialist in Argentina for the 2024-25 academic year.

Wilson Okello, assistant professor of higher education and research associate for the Center for the Study of Higher Education, wrote an op-ed for The Conversation, “Kamala Harris illustrates how complex identity is − and the pressure many multiracial people feel to put themselves in one ‘box.’” In addition, Okello’s new book, "On Blackness, Liveliness, and What It Means to be Human," is now available.

Amy (Chien-Chang) Pan, a doctoral student in educational psychology, is among 110 graduate students who are recipients of the 2024-25 University Graduate Fellowships and Distinguished Graduate Fellowships. The students were honored on Oct. 3 at a reception held at the Bryce Jordan Center.
