Mildred Boveda, associate professor of education (special education), is author of a new article, “What’s a Black feminist doing in a field like special education?” in Theory Into Practice.

Soo-yong Byun, professor of education (educational theory and policy), and Jilli Jung, a doctoral student in the Department of Education Policy Studies, received the Best Paper Award 2023 in the thematic area of Applied Educational Research in the Journal for the Study of Education and Development. They were recognized for a paper they co-authored, “Does shadow education discourage or encourage creative thinking? Evidence from South Korea.”

Erica Frankenberg, professor of education (educational leadership and demography), is quoted in an article, “Seventy years after Brown v Board of Education, school funding is the new frontier in education equity” in Chalkbeat Philadelphia.

Susan Land, head of the Department of Learning Performance Systems (LPS) and professor of education (learning, design, and technology), and Heather Toomey Zimmerman, professor of education (learning, design, and technology), presented four peer-reviewed papers at the 4th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Learning Sciences in June with four LPS graduate students: Charles Keith, Ping Xu, Leqi Li and Lillyanna Faimon.

Wilson Okello, assistant professor of education (higher education), is lead author of a new paper, “Affirmations of Black Being: Explicating the Potentialities of Self-Love in Higher Education” in The Journal of Higher Education. Additionally, Okello is co-author of a Medium essay, “Embracing Tender Masculinities: The Power of Intimacy.”
