UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Below are the most recent active external research grants awarded to faculty in the Penn State College of Education.

  • Erica Frankenberg, professor of education (educational leadership and demography), is principal investigator of a three-year project, “Race-conscious education policies and adaptive anti-discrimination in a divided, multiracial democracy,” that has been awarded $83,976 by the Spencer Foundation. This project is a three-year, mixed-method, multi-disciplinary study of “adaptive anti-discrimination” — the strategies, collaborations and policy formation to resist civil rights rollbacks and racist backlash in education across research production, advocacy and professional organizations, political bodies, and foundations and philanthropies. The researchers will examine how these sectors are reimagining, organizing, advocating and legislating within the context of the pandemic, rapid demographic change, hostility toward race-conscious policies and curriculum, and deepening segregation and inequality within and across communities.

Information about external grant awards is provided by the College of Education Research Office. Click here for information about all active research projects in the college.
