Students, staff and faculty members from Penn State's College of Education share recent research and career achievements.

  • The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) will host Abby-Gail Blanchard, a 2022-2023 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow at Penn State. As a fellow, she will focus on a CHEA International Quality Group (CIQG) initiative. The CIQG is a member affiliation that focuses on quality assurance and international matters in higher education. The Humphrey Fellowship Program, housed in the College of Education, is a one-year, non-degree program of combined academic and professional development opportunities. Blanchard is CEO, co-founder, director and consultant at Blanchard Institute for Educational Development and Research based in Paramaribo, Suriname.
  • José Cossa, associate professor of education (lifelong learning and adult education, comparative and international education and African Studies), is author of a new article, “‘uMuntu nguMuntu ngaBantu’: Toward an Equitably Infused Global Epistemological Orientation and Global (Philosophy of) Education” in Brill.
  • Annie Everett, a graduate student completing her second year in the Higher Education program, was selected as the 2023 Council for Higher Education Administration (CHEA) Fellow. Everett’s experience includes providing administrative support focused on student learning outcomes at a variety of postsecondary institutions in the U.S. She will begin her work at CHEA’s Washington, D.C., offices on May 1.
  • Erica Frankenberg, professor of education (educational leadership and demography), participated in a podcast episode of Our Children Can't Wait on racism and segregation and its impact on American students. You can listen to the episode on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
  • Ed Fuller, associate professor of education (educational leadership), was quoted in an article in The Philadelphia Inquirer, “Pa. issued the lowest number ever of new teaching certificates as educator shortage worsens.” He was also quoted in an article in Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “Pennsylvania's teacher shortage worsens as state reaches 'lowest level' in new certifications.”
