UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — With goals of educating students about sustainability and creating a more sustainable campus environment, the Student Sustainability Council in the Penn State College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) is developing a new museum series highlighting sustainability efforts taking place in the college.

The Student Sustainability Council will host an opening reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, to launch the series. The exhibit, “We Are the Hope for a Sustainable Future,” will debut in the EMS Museum & Art Gallery, which is located on the ground floor of Deike Building on the University Park campus. Remarks will begin at 4:45 p.m., followed by refreshments.

The exhibit, co-created with EMS students, is the first in a series designed to highlight personal and institutional efforts to create a more sustainable future.

“This exhibit is inspired by student suggestions in EMS to spark a conversation about creative and individual actions that students can take to build sustainable lives,” said Harman Singh, graduate student in geography and chair of the student council. “These actions include planting trees, reusing single use products, avoiding fast fashion and purchasing sustainable products.”
