UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) collectively gathered 487 items during the second annual “dodge the dumpster” event sponsored by the Fletcher L. Byrom EMS Library Food Pantry and the EMS Sustainability Council.
This year, the focus of the drive was to replenish food pantry items for incoming students.
Liz Long and Megan Fletcher, of the EMS library, worked with EMS Sustainability Council student representative Harman Singh to gather items from roughly a dozen pickup points within the College of EMS.
“The EMS Library Food Pantry is shopped frequently, and we appreciate the opportunity to house it in our space,” Long said. “I especially want to thank everyone for their support and donations. Without them, we may not be able to continue offering this service.”
Donated items will be distributed to students in need through the Food Pantry, which is open during EMS library hours. For more information, visit the EMS library website.
