UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — New students starting in fall 2021 will be welcomed to the University Park campus with events starting as students move in the week of Aug. 16.
Welcome Week events are designed to greet students and help them become more familiar with Penn State and State College as soon as they arrive on campus. Some events during Welcome Week are part of Extended Orientation and are mandatory for all new students.

While there are many activities planned as students move in during the week of Aug. 16, President’s New Student Convocation at 7:45 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Bryce Jordan Center will welcome all new students and will be the only time the class of 2025 will be together in one place. Following Convocation, new students are invited to Late Night in the HUB from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Each academic college will hold a dean’s meeting on Sunday, Aug. 22, for faculty and staff to welcome students. Be a Part From the Start will begin at 8 p.m. Aug. 22 at Rec Hall, where Lion Ambassadors will welcome the newest Nittany Lions to campus and teach them Penn State fight songs and chants.
A Resource Fair from noon to 4 p.m. on Aug. 21-22 on the HUB-Robeson Center lawn will allow for new and returning students — especially those who have not yet had an on-campus experience — to learn about resources and support services at University Park. In the event of rain, the Resource Fair will be held inside the HUB-Robeson Center.
Many more events are scheduled in August and into the month of September. The Involvement Fair on Aug. 25 and Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the HUB-Robeson Center lawn will be one of the best places to learn how and where to get involved in co-curricular experiences. LION Bash will return this year to downtown State College. This annual block party is a chance for students to meet other community members and learn about local organizations and ways to get involved. The Sept. 9 event will begin at 5 p.m. and feature music, food and games along South Allen Street.
Student Orientation and Transition Programs is part of Penn State Student Affairs and Penn State Undergraduate Education.
