University Park participating in national Exercise is Medicine Week

Students and employees are invited to participate in health-focused activities across campus

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State University Park campus will transform into a fitness community throughout the week of Oct. 2 as part of Exercise is Medicine on Campus (EiMOC) Week.

EiMOC Week is a national initiative calling on universities and colleges to promote physical activity and its health benefits. The Penn State Department of Kinesiology will host a number of different activities, from workout stations to health resources, across campus from Oct. 2-5. Each day’s activities center around a daily theme that aims to help campus students, faculty and staff take a break from their regular routine and get moving.

Mindful Monday — Oct. 2

Dean’s Walk, 9:30 a.m.

  • 1-mile walk begins at the Biobehavioral Health Building terrace

Mindful Activities on the HUB Lawn, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • 10 a.m. Yoga

  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. ShakeSmart Samples

  • 11 a.m. Deep Stretch

  • 1 p.m. Yoga

Team Tuesday — Oct. 3

Big Ten Push-up Challenge at Willard Building, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

  • Compete against other Big Ten schools

Lawn Games at Willard Building, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

  • Spike Ball

  • Kickball

  • Capture the Flag

  • Frisbee

Walk-It-Out Wednesday — Oct. 4

Big Ten Steps Challenge, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

  • Compete against other Big Ten Schools to get the most steps walking laps at the HUB Lawn

ShakeSmart Samples, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Prizes and giveaways all-day

Trek Thursday — Oct. 5

Variety of activities at the Palmer Museum of Art, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

  • Complete in a Scavenger Hunt to be entered to win prizes

  • Zumba at the Museum, 1 p.m.
