UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Transportation Services has announced parking permit rates for the next three years starting with academic year 2024-25 through 2026-27 at University Park.
Faculty/staff, student, and service parking permit rates will increase for each of the next three academic years. For the 2024-25 academic year, rates for most non-technical service employee parking permits will increase between $1 and $2 per month, while most student parking rates will rise between $5 and $18 per semester, depending on the permit type.
Parking rates for technical service employees are set through their collective bargaining process, and rates will not be announced until a new three-year collective bargaining agreement is finalized. All other permit rates are set by Transportation Services and approved by the Office of the Senior Vice President for Finance and Business. The full list of parking rates for the upcoming three years is provided below.
Parking fees are collected to cover the numerous fixed and variable costs associated with managing University parking facilities, to include parking facility construction and maintenance, staff salaries and benefits, and parking-related technology equipment and software. Parking revenue also is used to provide various campus transportation programs and services, to include campus transit, the RIDEpass reduced-fare mass transit pass program for employees and graduate students, campus bicycle facilities, and the Spin E-Bike Share Program.
Prior to parking permit rate increases enacted in 2022, permit rates for employees had not increased since 2013.
