UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Transportation Services has announced campus transit and parking changes at University Park for Penn State's upcoming spring break week, scheduled for Monday, March 4, through Sunday, March 10.
Regular parking regulations remain in effect
All normal faculty/staff, student, and visitor parking regulations will remain in effect during spring break.
However, core faculty/staff permits (Brown, Green, Orange, Red, Silver, Yellow) will be valid for parking at the following student parking areas from Sunday, March 3 through Saturday, March 9:
- Lot 11 (White Course Apartments)
- Lot 22 (Eastview Terrace)
- Lot 81 (South and Pollock Halls)
- Lot 82 (East Halls)
Faculty/Staff and Student Commuter Permit upgrade option
Faculty/staff and student Commuter permit holders who wish to gain access to additional parking areas during spring break may purchase a permit upgrade valid from Sunday, March 3, through Saturday, March 9. The fee will be $20, and all faculty/staff and student Commuter permit holders will receive an email with a map of available areas and instructions for purchasing the permit.
Curtin Road closed between Shortlidge and Bigler roads, March 5-7
A section of Curtin Road between Bigler Road and Shortlidge Road will be closed from 6 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 through 5 p.m. Thursday, March 7 for a utility connections project at the Pasture Research Lab.
There will be no through traffic on Curtin Road between Shortlidge Road and Bigler Road, and vehicles will detour to Park Avenue.
Access to the Yellow R lot behind the Ag Admin building will be maintained from Shortlidge Road.
A section of sidewalk in front of the Pasture Research Lab will be closed during this time. The north side and access to Berkey Creamery will remain available.
CATA service changes
CATA will observe its Reduced Service schedule from Saturday, March 2 through Sunday, March 10.
During this time, CATA's campus service will include only the Blue Loop. There will be no White Loop or Red Link service with no service on Sunday, March 3 or Sunday, March 10.
The following route detours will be in effect during the Curtin Road closure from Tuesday, March 5 through Thursday, March 7:
Blue Loop:
- From Curtin Road eastbound, buses will turn left on Shortlidge Road, right on East Park Avenue, right on Bigler Road, and left on Curtin Road, where normal routing will resume.
H Route:
- Heading outbound, buses will turn left on Shortlidge Road, right on East Park Avenue, right on Bigler Road and left on Curtin Road, where normal routing will resume.
W, R, V, and N Routes:
- From Curtin Road eastbound, buses will turn left on Shortlidge Road, right on East Park Avenue, and right on Bigler Road, where normal routing will resume.
No stops will be missed for any of these routes.

Regular Campus Shuttle to continue
Both Campus Shuttle routes will operate on their full-service schedules.
The following route detour will be in effect during the Curtin Road closure from Tuesday, March 5 through Thursday, March 7:
Campus Shuttle via Beaver Avenue:
- From Curtin Road eastbound, buses will turn left on Shortlidge Road, right on East Park Avenue, right on Bigler Road, and left on Curtin Road, where normal routing will resume.
No stops will be missed for this route.
Transportation Services office, Fleet Operations and Bike Den hours
The Transportation Services Office, Fleet Operations, and the Bike Den will observe normal office and building hours during spring break.
Student parking after spring break
Students not currently registered for on-campus parking who wish return to campus after spring break with a vehicle must first purchase a permit via the online parking portal.
