Penn Staters captured dazzling pictures of the vibrant aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, that were on display across Pennsylvania, North America and Europe on Oct. 10. The visible lights were the result of particles from a severe geomagnetic storm entering Earth's atmosphere and mixing with the planet's gases to produce light.

The below Facebook post shows some of the great images of the natural phenomenon that members of the University community captured on their campuses and beyond. Visit the Penn State Facebook page to view more pictures or to share your own.
