As part of our regular “We Are!” feature, we recognize 14 Penn Staters who have gone above and beyond what’s asked of them in their work at the University.

This week, on behalf of the entire Penn State community, we’d like to say thank you to:

  • Tammy Bowersox, academic records coordinator in the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS), whose nominator wrote: “As a DUS adviser at a Commonwealth Campus I've not had the honor to meet Tammy in person, but she has blown me away with her support and dedication to supporting DUS. The weekend after finals, she worked to support PSU students by processing their requests. This is admirable and an amazing representation of Penn State!”
  • Jose Garcia Cintora, assistant director of Residence Life at Penn State Abington, whose nominator wrote: “Jose is a talented student affairs practitioner who always lends a helping hand. Whether serving as the division photographer, assisting with programs and events or working with colleagues to better their skills, Jose is a true gem!”

She knows exactly what information we need and provides regular reports and reminders in an easy-to-use format."

The solution-based mentality Jennie fosters allow the team to grow and progress in positive ways.” Another nominator wrote: “Jennie participates within each unit to ensure she is fully aware of unit culture, has a thorough understanding of the unit workings, and embraces the unique challenges of each separate unit under her guidance. Going above and beyond is an understatement when describing Jennie’s work ethic.”
  • Tyler Estright, student engagement coordinator in the College of Information Sciences and Technology, whose nominator wrote: “Tyler's dedication to student organizations in the College of IST is invaluable. He is quick to answer questions and is approachable, and he fosters a supportive atmosphere with his friendly and encouraging demeanor!”
  • Jennifer James, associate athletic director for events in Intercollegiate Athletics, whose nominator wrote: “If you’ve been to an athletics event, you have probably seen either Jenn or one of her event managers running the show. Her secret is doing her job so well that no one knows the countless hours she puts in. Leadership, high standards, dedication and a supportive nature are just a few of the many qualities that Jenn has. We are thankful!”
  • Diane Lupp, academic program assistant in the College of Education, whose nominator wrote: “Diane planned, worked with key student groups, executed and staffed our department-specific graduation celebration in the spring. Her steady hand pulling multiple programs, graduates, faculty and family members together made the event truly spectacular! Thank you so much, Diane, for all you do!”

She is a champion of using collaborative technology and works quickly and efficiently. She takes care of small, but important details without complaint and makes significant contributions to the team.”
