UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State students, faculty and staff who have military service backgrounds in the U.S. Armed Forces are invited to attend the 11th annual Military Appreciation Breakfast on Nov. 11.
The Penn State Military Appreciation Breakfast will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, at Heritage Hall in the HUB-Robeson Center on the University Park campus. The breakfast is free to attend, and registration is required by Nov. 6. Individuals can visit the event website for more information and to register.
The breakfast will celebrate America’s "Greatest Generation" who fought in World War II and will reflect on the 75th anniversaries of D-Day and the Battle of Hürtgen Forest. The event will feature Jared Frederick, an author, historian and instructor of history at Penn State Altoona, and local filmmaker Mark Frederick, who created a short film about the German battle.
The appreciation breakfast is part of Penn State’s annual Military Appreciation Week, which officially kicks off on Nov. 8 with a weeklong series of festivities. The celebrations culminate with the annual Military Appreciation Football Game at Beaver Stadium on Nov. 16.
More than 5,600 Penn State students use the GI Bill as either an active-duty service member, a reservist, veteran or military dependent, across all of the University’s campuses, including Penn State World Campus.
Penn State has consistently been recognized as a military-friendly school for the many academic programs and support resources available to active-duty, veteran and ROTC students. Penn State World Campus ranks as a top online school for military and veteran students by Military Times and U.S. Veterans Magazine.
