UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Poultry Science Club is again selling turkeys to members of the Penn State and surrounding communities just in time for delivery the week of Thanksgiving.
"Turkey Harvest is our largest fundraiser and is open to the public," said Jonathan Nace, club member and turkey sale co-chair, who noted that the turkeys are raised and processed by students at the Poultry Education and Research Center.
About 350 turkeys will be available for sale at a flat rate of $40 per bird, with a limit of two birds per customer. Turkey weights will be between 18 and 23 pounds.
The 2021 sale procedures will be similar to last year's, with a few minor changes, Nace explained. Like last year, customers will pre-order using an online form. Pre-orders will be accepted beginning at 8 p.m. Oct. 20. Orders will be time stamped and taken on a first come, first served basis.
After orders are submitted, customers will receive information about the pick-up location. Pick-up times will be scheduled on Sunday, Nov. 21, and Monday, Nov. 22.
The order form and more information can be found on the Poultry Science Club's website. Other questions can be directed to turkey sale co-chairs Matthew Eyre and Jonathan Nace or to club faculty adviser Phillip Clauer.
