Penn State Military Appreciation Week in search of military families to feature

UNIVERSITY, Pa. – This year’s Penn State Military Appreciation Week will honor military families with members who serve or have served in the U.S. armed forces. Every year, Penn State honors service members by inviting them to submit a profile of service for an opportunity to be featured online and in the community. This year, the University also asks families to submit their stories to be featured during the 12th annual Military Appreciation Week.

Families who submit their stories are also eligible to be chosen to be recognized on the field during the Military Appreciation football game on Oct. 28 against Indiana University. To be considered, please submit your stories by Oct. 1, and the selected family will be notified by Oct. 6.

The requested information includes the service member’s:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Branch
  • Rank
  • Hometown and/or current duty station
  • A short description of their family, what it means to them to be a military family, and any exciting memories they’d like to share
  • A photo of the service member with the family (in uniform or out of uniform)

At the bottom of the page, there is an option to be considered for on-field recognition at the Military Appreciation football game. You may opt out if you or your family member would only like to share their story and not go on the field. Any family member can fill out this form and does not have to be a service member. One family will be selected for on-field recognition.

Please note that whoever is selected is responsible for travel expenses to and from the game.
