UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Homecoming plans to hold in-person activities for Homecoming Week, Oct. 17-23, leading up to the Homecoming football game against Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 23.
Penn State Homecoming activities serve to excite and involve the Penn State community each fall. This year, in alignment with State College Borough’s updated COVID-19 guidelines, and the University’s announcement for in-person activities, the Penn State Homecoming executive committee has decided it is possible to conduct primarily in-person Homecoming activities in a safe and responsible manner.
The Penn State Homecoming executive committee recognizes the ongoing risk from COVID-19. Therefore, the University's mask mandate, which currently requires masking in all indoor spaces regardless of vaccination status, will be enforced throughout the week at Penn State Homecoming activities.
“We are very excited for the opportunity to plan and celebrate a true Penn State Homecoming — a Homecoming where members of the Penn State community can safely come together and experience what it truly means to be a part of the Penn State family,” said Dom Rullo, executive director for Penn State Homecoming.
Students experiencing their first in-person Homecoming should check Penn State Homecoming social media accounts for ways to get the full Homecoming experience, including details on events such as the traditional Penn State Homecoming Parade on Friday, Oct. 22. As in previous years, the parade will be simulcast via livestream to provide a safe, accessible viewing option.
The executive committee for Homecoming continues to monitor University, local and state COVID-19 mitigation requirements and is dedicated to hosting the best possible Homecoming experience while being mindful of the safety of the Penn State community. As it may become necessary to modify the event plans, community members should follow Penn State Homecoming social media for the most up-to-date information.
Penn State Homecoming is a student-run organization that aims to celebrate tradition and instill pride in all members of the Penn State family through active engagement of students, alumni, faculty and staff across the community.
