UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Beginning fall semester 2018, a new Starbucks will open in Pattee Library and Paterno Library at Penn State University Park.
Construction is slated to begin after the current Mackinnon’s Café closes on May 4. The licensed Starbucks store, which will be owned and operated by Auxiliary & Business Services, will be located on the first floor of Paterno Library. It will be the second Starbucks on campus, joining the store at the HUB-Robeson Center.
At 2,800 square feet, the new, full-scale Starbucks will offer plenty of seating as well as a wide selection of food and beverage choices.
“Most Starbucks stores in our region don’t offer a wide selection of food,” says David Gingher, director of Campus Retail Dining. “We will have the first one with food similar to what’s available in bigger cities. We’ll have fresh bistro boxes delivered daily, and customers can choose from sandwiches, salads, and healthy snack items, along with pastries and a wide range of beverages and bottled items.”
Students can use meal points or LionCash for Starbucks purchases.
