UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Eisenhower Parking Deck will partially reopen on Monday, Aug. 21.
The north section of the deck and the Yellow F surface lot will remain offline until further notice. Overflow parking for Yellow F permit holders will be available at all sections of Yellow H, all Orange lots, and the Commuter lots (Stadium West, Jordan East, Porter North, Porter South).

A sinkhole caused by water from a failed underground stormwater pipe was discovered on Wednesday (Aug. 16) near the Eisenhower Parking Deck. Given the sinkhole’s close proximity to the Eisenhower Parking Deck (Eisenhower Road side), the University closed the deck and carefully monitored the facility to determine the sinkhole did not compromise structural integrity to the deck or roadway. When it was determined that it was safe to do so, University Police escorted drivers to their vehicles before exiting.
The University diverted stormwater to other parts of the system to halt additional water entering the sinkhole. Stormwater engineers and utility crews carefully monitored the diverted stormwater during recent rains to ensure no additional water entered the sinkhole. Appropriate backfilling materials were injected into the sinkhole to provide continued stability.
After thorough analysis by the university and third-party structural engineers, it has been determined that the deck is structurally stable and poses no additional risk for those parking in the deck. Out of an abundance of caution, the parking areas closest to the sinkhole will remain closed off while work continues to be performed in the area. The failed portion of the stormwater sewer pipe will eventually be fully repaired and returned to service.
Eisenhower Road also will remain closed between the deck entrance and exit. As a result, vehicles will be required to enter the deck from the west end of Eisenhower Road via Shortlidge Road, while all vehicles exiting the deck will be required to travel east to Bigler Road.
Entry to and exit from the Yellow S parking lots will only be available from the west end of Eisenhower Road via Shortlidge Road.

YAS-West Deck student permit sales
With Yellow F permit holders returning to Eisenhower Deck, the postponed YAS-West Deck student parking permit sales will take place at 10 a.m. Monday.
Rates will be prorated, and students who purchased a Lot 43 permit who successfully purchase a YAS-West Deck permit will be able to return their Lot 43 permit for a prorated refund.
Off-campus students in need of overnight storage parking who have not yet purchased a permit may park at Stadium West or Jordan East until Monday.
Transportation Services Office to reopen Monday (Aug. 21)
With the reopening of the deck, the Transportation Services Office will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Monday.
