Lecture on 'AI for Cyber-Safety' to be presented March 4

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Srijan Kumar, assistant professor at the College of Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology, will present a free public lecture titled “Advances in AI for Cyber-Safety” at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 4. The lecture is part of the AI for Social Impact seminar series hosted by the Center for Socially Responsible Artificial Intelligence and will be held live via Zoom View Webinar.

No registration is required. Penn State students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty with an interest in socially responsible AI applications are encouraged to attend.

Kumar’s talk will describe the cyber-safety-focused AI-based methods that his group has developed to efficiently detect malicious users and bad content online. His research focuses on developing data science, machine learning, and AI solutions for the pressing challenges pertaining to the safety, integrity, and well-being of users, platforms, and communities in the cyber domain.

The AI for Social Impact Seminar Series brings together researchers and thought leaders from a variety of fields to explore the diverse applications of artificial intelligence for a societal benefit. Through the series, the Center for Socially Responsible Artificial Intelligence aims to inspire new ideas and collaborations and to identify novel approaches that can advance discovery in the field at Penn State and beyond.
