Large crowds gathered at the stage during the annual Juneteenth Block Party to enjoy speeches, see dancers, and listen to inspiring music including several uplifting spiritual songs performed by the Unity Church Praise Team. Along with the many performers, the fourth annual Juneteenth Celebration in downtown State College also offered a variety of foods provided by Shawn Carter and Carter's Table. The Juneteenth Block Party was party of the State College area's annual Juneteenth celebrations. Free cupcakes have become a tradition at Juneteenth celebrations around the nation. The cupcakes represent tea cakes that were served at some of the earliest African American celebrations following the Emancipation Proclamation and also at the end of the American Civil War.
