UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Starbucks in the HUB-Robeson Center is scheduled to be fully renovated over the summer and will reopen in time for the start of the fall semester.
Starbucks will close Friday, May 5, to start construction, which is expected to be completed by August. It will remain in the same location, but the renovation will nearly double the current size of the store and will incorporate a wide selection of food and beverage options.
“We feel that the renovations will greatly improve the customer experience by having a more efficient queuing line, allowing the line to easily flow and avoid disrupting seating areas and walkways in the HUB,” said Vince Raco, director of Campus Retail Dining.
Some other enhanced features and additions will be updated seating, a more efficient cold brew station, the addition of Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew to the list of offerings, and an improved "grab-and-go" wall that will increase food options on weeknights and weekends.
Starbucks in the HUB is one of two full-size stores on campus, along with the location at the Paterno Library, which opened in 2018. Both are owned and operated by Penn State Auxiliary and Business Services. Raco said that he anticipates hiring more employees for the HUB Starbucks location following the renovation.
While the HUB location is closed, customers will still be able to purchase Starbucks items at the Penn State Bookstore in the HUB and the full-sized store in the Paterno Library.
