UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Transportation Services has announced parking changes at University Park to accommodate the many vehicles arriving on campus during the fall semester student arrival period.

Included in these changes will be the temporary closure of select faculty/staff parking lots located near residence hall areas. University department vehicles must also be removed from these restricted areas during the student arrival period. Cooperation with these changes is critical to ensure a safe and successful arrival.

Note: To accommodate student arrival traffic, Burrowes Road will allow southbound traffic only between Curtin Road and Pollock Road beginning Wednesday, Aug. 17, through Saturday, Aug. 20, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

East Deck and HUB Deck impacts

The first two levels of the East Deck will be reserved for student arrival unloading only from Monday, Aug. 14, through Sunday, Aug. 20. With heavy traffic expected near East Deck, there may be times when the section of Bigler Road located between Curtin Road and Park Avenue is restricted. East Deck permit holders are encouraged to park at Jordan East or Stadium West. Hourly visitor parking will be limited.

Sections of HUB Deck parking located below the plaza level entrance will be reserved for student arrival unloading only from Monday, Aug. 14, through Sunday, Aug. 20. Jordan East and Stadium West will be available to Yellow C permit holders in the event the deck reaches capacity or if alternative parking is desired. Hourly visitor parking will be limited

Student lot closures

The following student parking lots will be closed for 30-minute student-arrival unloading only from Monday, Aug. 14 through 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20:

Students who need parking during arrival week may park at Stadium West or Jordan East, including overnight, as the 2–4 a.m. restriction for those lots will be waived from Monday, Aug. 14, through Sunday, Aug. 20. Students registering for a fall or fall/spring permit will receive an email after purchase with the date/time at which they may begin parking in their assigned parking area.

Campus transit options

CATA's full-service schedule, including the return of White Loop service, will begin Thursday, Aug. 17. Visit https://catabus.com/ for more information.

The Campus Shuttle via College Avenue will operate on its normal schedule (7 a.m.–6 p.m., Monday–Friday). The Campus Shuttle via Beaver Avenue will return with an updated route on Monday, Aug. 14, and will operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.

As a result of the southbound-only traffic restriction on Burrowes Road between Curtin Road and Pollock Road, northbound CATA and Campus Shuttle stops located along Burrowes Road between College Avenue and Curtin Road will not be serviced from Wednesday, Aug. 16, through Saturday, Aug. 19. This will impact northbound stops at Reber Building, Deike Building, Hosler Building, Waring Commons and Rec Hall.
