UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) and Penn State will host a free COVID-19 vaccination clinic offering the new Pfizer bivalent vaccine from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, at the Bryce Jordan Center (BJC) on Penn State’s University Park campus.
Appointments can be made online and will first be made available to Penn State students who need the new bivalent booster dose. Following the student sign-up period, the clinic will welcome Penn State faculty and staff and local community members to fill the remaining appointment slots. Drop-ins also are welcome, though appointments are encouraged.
The university strongly encourages all students, faculty and staff to stay up to date on their COVID-19 vaccinations, including these new booster doses.
Students at University Park, Commonwealth Campuses and Dickinson Law can upload their vaccination records through myUHS. Students can visit the University Health Services immunization webpage for more information on how to upload. Faculty, staff and World Campus students can upload an image of their COVID-19 vaccination card into Penn State’s Salesforce Health Cloud, a secure online platform for collecting and storing health data.
The Pfizer-BioNTech booster shots are available for individuals ages 12 and older who had last dose at least two months ago.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, the new bivalent COVID-19 vaccines are formulated to more broadly protect against the original SARS-CoV-2 virus — the virus that causes COVID-19 — as well as the newer omicron variant.
Individuals who wish to receive a vaccine must wear a mask while inside the BJC and bring photo identification and their vaccine card. Individuals will need to complete a vaccine consent form and wait inside the BJC for approximately 15 minutes after receiving their shot.
Individuals should enter the Jordan Center through Gate B. Parking is available in the Jordan East parking lot, the large lot located to the east of the Bryce Jordan Center, for up to 1 hour with no permit required. ADA parking is located at the corner of Curtin Road and Commuter Drive.
