UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A free screening of the Spike Lee film “Chi-Raq” will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, in the Paterno Library's Foster Auditorium, followed by brief comments from University faculty on the film’s impact.
“Chi-Raq” is an adaptation of the Greek comedy “Lysistrata,” set in contemporary Chicago against the backdrop of gang violence. After the film, Jeanine Staples from the Department of African American Studies, Moses Davis from the Multicultural Resource Center, and Mathias Hanses from Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies will offer brief comments.
The event is co-sponsored by the Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies, the Multicultural Resource Center, Residence Life, and the University Libraries Diversity Committee.
