UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State and the College of the Liberal Arts will celebrate a major renovation to Burrowes Building this weekend — the first major renovation to take place on the Pattee Mall in nearly 40 years.

A dedication ceremony marking the occasion will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 16. The public is invited to attend the event, which will include light refreshments and tours of the Digital English Studio, the Brain and Language Laboratory, the Hemingway Room, the Elm Room, and other signature spaces throughout the building.

Penn State dignitaries slated to speak included President Eric Barron, Executive Vice President and Provost Nicholas Jones, Dean of the College of the Liberal Arts Susan Welch, and Evan Pugh University Professor of English Robert Hume.

The central core of Burrowes Building was dedicated on Aug. 1, 1940; wings were added to the building in 1968 to accommodate a huge increase in Penn State’s enrollment. The video below provides a glimpse of the improvements to be celebrated on Saturday.
