UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Transportation Services has announced the opening of the Bike Den, a community-building space open to both the Penn State and broader Centre Region community where cyclists can connect and learn more about biking.

Located on the ground level of the new West Deck at West Campus, the Bike Den is a space where cyclists of all experience levels can meet to work on a do-it-yourself maintenance project, attend a bike education workshop, or chat with local cyclists.

“One of our goals at Transportation Services is to develop programs and services that improve campus and community sustainability, and the Bike Den will help us continue those efforts,” said Sustainable Transportation Program Coordinator Cecily Zhu.

Workshops and clinics will be available to teach the community do-it-yourself bike repair and safe cycling practices. Visit the Bike Den page for more information on this new community space and a full schedule of clinics and workshops when available.

The Bike Den will open with a ribbon-cutting event at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, followed by the start of its regular fall semester hours (1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday) on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
