Brandywine Student Spotlight: Om Trivedi

Year: Second

Major: Computer Science

Involvement: Co-chair, Brandywine Events and Activities Student Team; member, Brandywine Benefitting THON

Brandywine: What was your deciding factor in coming to Penn State Brandywine?

Trivedi: I decided to come to Penn State because of the 2+2 program. I really like being local for the first two years of my college career and then transitioning to University Park. Being at Brandywine for the first two years is also very affordable for me compared to other schools.

Brandywine: How did you choose your major?

Trivedi: I’ve been interested in technology since I was a kid. I’ve always been fascinated with how things work, and when I was looking into majors, I thought computer science would be a great fit for me.

Brandywine: What challenges have you faced at Brandywine, if any?

Trivedi: Finals week was definitely a challenge for me this past academic year. It was a lot of stress for me, but I was able to get through it.

Brandywine: Who at Brandywine has supported you, and how?

Trivedi: My friend, Mihalis Noti (a second-year student), has been there for me every step of the way. He’s also a computer science major. We do everything together and we have each other’s backs.

Brandywine: What made you interested in joining Brandywine Benefitting THON? What do you enjoy most about it?

Trivedi: The sense of community drove me to join Brandywine Benefitting THON. Everyone in the club is great, and I really enjoy getting to help our community and raising money for kids with childhood cancer.

Brandywine: What advice do you have for students who are looking to get involved?

Trivedi: If you’re looking to get involved, just do it. You’ll make so many connections that way and meet so many new people.

Brandywine: With your involvement at Brandywine, how has your time on campus been impacted?

Trivedi: I’ve been very busy, and I’ve had to learn how to balance school, my social life and my personal life at home. It’s been a learning curve, but I’ve gotten the hang of it.

Brandywine: What's your favorite memory you've made at Brandywine?

Trivedi: My favorite memory was on the last day of school last academic year when I finished my final exams. The feeling of relief was amazing that day.

Brandywine: What has been the most valuable lesson you've learned at Brandywine?

Trivedi: I’ve learned to get out of my comfort zone. One thing I struggled with at first was just talking to people. Brandywine really helped me not only talk to people, but also form really great connections.
