MEDIA, Pa. — Samantha Pezzimenti, assistant teaching professor of mathematics at Penn State Brandywine, recently was awarded the Early Career Teaching Award by the Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware (EPaDel) Section of the Mathematical Association of America. The Early Career Teaching Award is given to two individuals every year — one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester — who are early in their careers and successful in their teaching both in their classroom and beyond.

“Receiving this award was a huge surprise. I love what I do and am honored to be recognized in this way,” Pezzimenti said. “It is especially humbling to have been nominated by colleagues who I respect and admire.”

In order to be eligible to receive the award, nominees must have a doctorate degree, have held a full-time faculty appointment in mathematics in the EPaDel region for at least two, but less than seven, years since receiving their doctorate degree and be a member of the Mathematical Association of America.
