UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A series of select screenings of an award-winning feature film by a Penn State alumnus begins this week in major cities across the United States.
The film by Ira Rosensweig, “SHARE?” was named Best Feature: Thriller, Fantasy, Horror, or Sci-Fi at the 2023 Cinequest Film Festival.
All screenings the first week include a question-and-answer session with Rosensweig, who earned his bachelor’s degree in film production from Penn State in 1999. This is the first feature film directed by Rosensweig, who has built a career with funny and memorable advertising and promotional spots.
Screenings are scheduled in New York City (Nov. 6), Philadelphia (Nov. 7), Chicago (Nov. 8), Austin (Nov. 9), San Francisco (Nov. 10) and Los Angeles (Nov. 11). The movie will be available on Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play and Vudu beginning Nov. 10.
“SHARE?” is a sci-fi thriller starring three-time Emmy Award-winner Bradley Whitford, along with Alice Braga, Danielle Campbell and Melvin Bragg. The film focuses largely on Gregg as a man who struggles to survive after waking up alone, trapped in a society connected only by a primitive computer network where the ability to entertain is the only currency. As a result, the film explores society’s sometimes unhealthy relationship with technology, especially social media, and examines how survival often hinges on the stories people tell.
It is the first feature ever shot entirely from one fixed camera angle, and employs immersive techniques designed to create a disquieting experience where the viewer becomes another character in the movie.
Rosensweig co-wrote, directed, co-produced and edited the film.
