UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A newscast produced by Penn State students earned first place in a nationwide competition as College Broadcasters Inc. recognized “Centre County Report” as the nation’s best for the second year in a row.
The honor was one of five earned by Penn State student productions during the 2024 National Student Production Awards.
All of the award winners were produced by students in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications. The winners included two first-place finishers, one second-place recognition and two thirds.

“Centre County Report” airs during the academic year online and on WPSU-TV. The newscast also streams in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on news channels operated by broadcast partners in those markets.
“After the Whistle” focuses on high school and Penn State sports, and streams weekly on YouTube.
