ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend’s 2023 Parents, Families and Alumni Weekend included a new feature: a two-story selfie station, painted on a wall of the college’s Reed Union Building.
The mural, titled “Behrend Pride,” was painted by the Erie artist Ceasar Westbrook. It includes depictions of Glenhill Farmhouse and Wintergreen Gorge. In the foreground, in blue, are the silhouettes of four graduates, standing arm-in-arm at commencement.
The mural, which is just outside the Reed Union Building Wintergarden, was commissioned by the college’s 75th Anniversary Committee. Additional support was provided by Lincoln Recycling, Modern Industries Inc., and the Penn State Behrend School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
“It celebrates the college’s milestone anniversary and what is to come in the years ahead,” Westbrook said.
Westbrook describes the project and the process of painting the mural in the video below.
