ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend wrestling team opened the Kalahari Duals in Sandusky, Ohio, with a 31-15 win against Mount St. Joseph. The Lions travel to Pitt-Bradford for Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference duals on Jan. 11.

Behrend’s basketball teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

Men’s basketball

  • Penn State Behrend 79, Fredonia 51
  • La Roche 75, Penn State Behrend 59

Matthew McDonough, a junior from Pittsburgh, scored a season-high 28 points against Fredonia. Sam Petrarca, a junior from Peters Township, scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Women’s basketball

  • Penn State Behrend 88, Keuka 50
  • Penn State Behrend 74, La Roche 60

Rachel Majewski, a senior from Erie, scored a season-high 26 points against La Roche. Alexis Furyes, a senior from Medina, Ohio, scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against Keuka.

Wrestling

  • Penn State Behrend 31, Mount St. Joseph 15

Rudy Brown, a freshman from Burgettstown, won four matches at the Kalahari Duals, hosted by Heidelberg University. Brown, who wrestles in the 157-pound weight class, won by pin, technical fall, major decision and decision.
