ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend women’s tennis team won two Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matches last week, defeating Carlow and La Roche. The Lions host Mt. Aloysius on Oct. 11.
Behrend’s soccer, cross-country, volleyball, water polo, golf and bowling teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s soccer

Owen Petersen, a sophomore from Erie, scored with a header in the 18th minute against Pitt-Greensburg.
Women’s soccer

Trinity Prestash, a senior from Philipsburg, scored with a header off a corner kick in the 84th minute against Pitt-Greensburg.
Men’s cross-country
Eleventh (of 17 teams) at the Kara Hall Memorial Invitational, hosted by Fredonia
Bennett Kerr, a senior from Murrysville, led the Lions, finishing the 8K race in 27:31.5. He finished 42nd in a field of 184 runners.
Women’s cross-country
Ninth (of 13 teams) at the Kara Hall Memorial Invitational, hosted by Fredonia
Lindsey Hartle, a junior from Pittsburgh, paced the Lions, finishing the 6K race in 25:37.1. She placed 52nd in a field of 140 runners.
Women’s volleyball
John Carroll 3, Penn State Behrend 1
Sara Nobach, a junior from Athens, Michigan, had 11 digs against John Carroll. She served three straight points to break a 20-20 tie in the third set.
Men’s golf
Third (of five teams) at the Hilbert Invitational
Owen Blum, a sophomore from Warren, placed second in a field of 22 golfers. He shot an 81.
Men’s water polo

Occidental 20, Penn State Behrend 7
Ottawa 21, Penn State Behrend 8
Whittier 18, Penn State Behrend 7
Jack Holl, a senior from Greenwich, Connecticut, scored five goals against Whittier. Nick Thompson, a freshman from Hudsonville, Michigan, scored four goals against Caltech.
Women’s tennis

Madison Gannon, a junior from Union Springs, New York, won at No. 6 singles against La Roche, finishing with scores of 6-0, 6-0. She partnered with Ava Hartung, a freshman from Fredonia, New York, to win at No. 3 doubles, 6-0.
